SILKY SAW TECHNOLOGY...
SILKY saws work on the pull stroke, minimising effort and providing a smooth clean cut, maximising tree health. They can rip-cut, cross-cut and slant-cut. The hard chrome plating produces an exceedingly hard, durable surface, the replaceable blades are resistant to rust and the effects of resin, and they are finely or mirror polished and wipe clean easily.
The Icons below describe the various features that make SIlky Saws so unique and high performing. Please view individual saw descriptions to determine which features relates to that specific model.

Mirai-Me Smooth Cutting
The teeth of the future! Silky blades have precision ground razor sharp teeth, with 4 cutting angles along their length. They leave an especially smooth surface after cutting and are ideal for pruning, greatly reducing the risk of infection. They can rip-cut, cross-cut and slant-cut. |
Non-Set Teeth The blades are made from SK-4 high carbon steel and are taper ground (i.e. thicker at the tooth edge and thinner at the back of the blade). This taper reduces resistance giving smoother, easier, and faster cutting performance. |
Impluse Hardening Using a special high frequency heating technique, teeth are heated instantly and hardened. Because only the teeth are heated, the blade retains its normal flexibility. Hardened teeth stay sharp about 3 times longer than non-hardened teeth. |
Four Rows of Teeth Silky Saw teeth are set in such a way that there appears to be 4 rows of them. These are rough cutting hand saws for heavier tasks. They can rip-cut, cross-cut and slant-cut. |
Hard Chrome Plating Hard Chrome Plating produces an exceedingly hard and durable surface. The blades are resistant to rust and the effects of resin, and they are finely or mirror polished and wipe clean easily. |
Sharpenable Because impulse-hardening is not applied, the blades marked with this symbol can be sharpened with a file. |

Rubber Handles Almost all Silky Saws have rubber compound elastomer handles, either inserted or vulcanised to ABS plastic or steel. Rubber handles are more comfortable to hold, reduce vibration, and offer superior grip in the cold and wet. |
SILKY TEETH CONFIGURATIONS...
The guide below refers to the numbers of teeth per 30mm on the blade. Each Silky blade is defined as having "Extra Large Teeth" to "Extra Fine Teeth" and the icons below are designed to help you identify the teeth configuration of every saw in the Silky range.
Extra Large Teeth
Typically, this saw will be for use in forestry or heavy-duty arborist work. The teeth configuration will range between 3 and 7 teeth per 30mm and will give a very aggressive cut. In general you will be surprised by the smoothness of the cut. |
Large Teeth A saw with large teeth will be ideal for use in heavy/medium pruning tasks, root cutting, and construction. The number of teeth will range between 7 and 8 teeth per 30mm. An aggressive and smooth cut will be achieved. |
Medium Teeth Ideal for pruning work or construction, a medium teeth configuration usually has 10 teeth per 30mm and will give a cleaner finish when compared to larger teeth saws. |
Fine Teeth These saws are likely to be used for gardening and woodworking, and a fine teeth configuration typically comprises of 13 to 20 teeth per 30mm and will achieve a clean finish. |
Extra Fine Teeth These saws will have very fine teeth ideal for woodworking and carpentry, and range between 20 and 32 teeth per 30mm, and a very smooth finish can be expected. |

The taper-ground chrome-plated reinforced blades allow a fluid, straight cut as the teeth are actually wider than the mirror polished blade. The Woodboy comes in two types - Dozuki and Kataba. The Dozuki has a hard back and comes in 32 teeth per 30mm. The Kataba has no hard back and comes in either 26 teeth or 32 teeth per 30mm. They are both simply fantastic and perfect for intricate joinery, and both have two thumb release open positions - one for standard work, the other for tight spots or for kerfing dado joints etc. And the blades fold into a sure-grip rubberized handle, making it easily portable while protecting the teeth. Silky designed this saw for interior carpenters and other woodworkers needing a high quality tool for the job site.
