Japan’s leading manufacturer of pruning and harvesting tools, Okatsune, is based in Hiroshima. Okatsune have been manufacturing sharp and durable cutting tools for over 70 years, and using a precise quenching and tempering process they turn high quality steel into blades that test 60 to 61 on the Rockwell C hardness scale.
Okatsune’s razor-sharp tools are uniquely forged from the best Izumo Yasugi steel, which has traditionally been used to make Katana swords. Izumo Yasugi steel is characterized by a high carbon content and is forged by the best master blacksmiths of Japan, using an age-old technology. This process only takes place in the Izumo region, solely using Izumo iron sand, and produces blades that will keep their edges longer.
