Most Silky Saws have Impulse-Hardened Teeth, which means the teeth of the blades are heated instantly and hardened. This hardness makes them very difficult to actually sharpen. Looking at the specs of each Silky Saws shows you which ones are not Impulse-Hardened and therefore sharpenable.

The OKATSUNE SHARPENING STONE is a 600 grit wet stone, designed for your standard garden tools such as secateurs, snips, hedge shears and loppers.
To use the wet stone, first soak it in water which will give you a better result. Hold the stone along the cutting edge of your blade and grind along the bevel about 10 - 20 times. Turn your blade over and grind 5 - 10 times lightly taking off the burr (any filings that may have appeared due to sharpening the cutting edge).

The CASTELLARI SHARPENING STONE is a course grit dry stone which can be used for sharpening your garden tools such as secateurs, snips, hedge shears and loppers.
To use the dry stone, hold it along the cutting edge of your blade and grind along the bevel about 5 - 10 times. Turn your blade over and grind 3 - 5 times lightly taking off the burr (any filings that may have appeared due to sharpening the cutting edge).
The EZE LAP DIAMOND SHARPENER is built with superior materials and technology, lasts for a very long time, and is ideal for tools of all descriptions. We've chosen the medium grit model and believe this is enough for sharpening up most secateurs, snips, hedge shears and even loppers. Please note: Eze Lap Diamond Files are not designed to sharpen pruning saws (see more information below on sharpening saws).
Keep your blades sharp for maximum results and sharp blades make your job a lot easier. On most blades you will see a bevel (the angle that ends at the sharp edge), that's the edge that needs to be sharpened. Bypass type tools will only have a bevel on one side of the blade. Anvil type tools will have a bevel on both sides of the blade. We recommend you give 9 - 10 strokes with your sharpener along each bevel which will bring your edge back quickly and effectively.
It is important to remember however, the diamond sharpener will not work at its best if your blades are dirty or rusty. Keep your tools clean and dry and then give them a quick sharpen when you're ready to use them again.
If you have a Silky Saw, please refer to the Silky Technology page in each of the saw entries to see which saws are sharpenable. We do a Feather Edge File that may help you with sharpening your saw.

The CASTELLARI ACCIANO is a handy tool sharpener the same size as a pen and has a lovely thin sharpening edge. It is perfect for giving all your gardening tools a good old touch up, as well as those blunt scissors in the kitchen. Secateurs, loppers, pruning saws and even the blades of hand tools come up sharp after a few swipes across this. Recommended for the sharpening of your tools as they restore the cutting edge without wearing it down and therefore making the blade last longer.
